The Alpha Index contains all of the terms in the Tree Index, arranged alphabetically and in various permutations. This approach may be the fastest way to access information on a specific treatment or diagnostic method. The Key Word selection takes you directly to the topic heading that matches your search term. The Key Word search does not match for terms in the abstract or full text, so there will be fewer false positives. However, your term may not match our terminology, so if you do not find what you are looking for, try a similar term (eg, renal for kidney, neoplasm for cancer). Alternatively, there may not be any articles selected for your specialty under your search term. In that case, access the Master Index and see if there is a match in another specialty.
